free the camera
I want to be able to freely control the camera, I want to be able to see a perfecfly vertical top-down view
and it's also really annoying inside the machines

This suggestion reminded me I have a Space Mouse Compact for my occasional CAD projects. While it would lend itself very well to being an alternate camera-control device, it's probably too niche (for now) to justify development time/effort to integrating it into the control scheme :)
for the curious, see 3dconnexion.com -

Jsdfbnagree having a complete top-down view would help tremendously especially when routing belts around buildings, instead of having to move the camera first.

AntoineHey Antoine (dev) here! You can know pitch the camera up to 90° for a top down view, but we won't able complete free cam rotations because of performance issues. By limiting the lower pitch level, we limit the amount of things on the screen, improving the performance.
The lower max pitch level depends on the zoom level (the more you zoom in, the more you can pitch the cam). -

FynolaPosting here to avoid duplicate cause it's part of what I wanted to suggest.
I was more wondering about the highest pitch level inside machine view.
Currently you can go almost vertical, but not totally. Would be great to be able to view it from straight top, at least for me it would make it easier to set up basic shapes faster and have less difficulty counting pixels from an angle when assembling a module with non connected parts.
(attached pic of max pitch angle, it's not always easy to see behind block on more complex shapes or doing it quickly)
Thanks
