Map bookmarks
Being able to mark a specific location on the map (with a little flag or something) and being able to find that location again - either visually or with a mechanism to "jump" to that location again.
Sometimes you have to pause building your new production line to route a module from the other side of the map to your new assembler. It would be nice to somehow (temporarily) mark a location to get back to, to continue building later on.

Just thought of this while I was commenting on another camera-related suggestion.
In a word: NumPad
Just as a concept:
the player could hold some combination of Ctrl/Alt/Shift + pad# to (un)set a custom viewport (x/y/z, inclination, direction, zoom)
the pad math keys could cycle forward/back through preset and/or user-set viewports -

DrydeCould definitely help in mid/late game and probably ease the game speed without having the need on rendering the whole factory when hovering

Muppet Rat MergedI would like a number of programmable camera position hotkeys, so I can jump to locations quickly, without having to orient myself, and remember which island is producing which items. The mini map currently offers very little in the way of landmarks, or identifiable images, or even the beacons.

TyYeah the mini map could be much better. Just the ability to name islands and add notes to them would be extremely useful with an option to see the names/notes in the mini-map (and even in the main game play narea map). Right now, it's extremely confusing and difficult to "find" buildings and items you are already making "somewhere on one of your islands" to check on them or duplicate them.
