Stash Functionality and Config Handling on Building Flip
Played the beta demo, really digging what you’ve built so far. It has this relaxing, zen wave that makes you unwind without even noticing. Super clean vibe, satisfying mechanics, and a nice mix of creative freedom and structure. Easy to lose track of time (which, let’s be honest, is the goal).
From one dev to another, one thing that could really improve iteration: a way to temporarily "stash" buildings or modules, kind of like a git stash. Just clear a section without deleting or dragging stuff around the map. Let me toss it into a holding area and pull it back later.
If stashed items keep their config, even better. Bonus points if flipping buildings with multiple inputs also flips their config accordingly. Right now, it still expects items from the same side, which often breaks things.
You’ve got a fantastic core here. Little things like this go a long way as builds grow more complex. Looking forward to what’s next!

The current system of pressing C and then clicking or dragging and selecting feels very bare bones. Even playing the tutorial in the demo, it feels clunky and has significantly gotten in the way of factory progress.
Example: I want to reorganise a section of my factory line to optimise throughput. Space is limited, so I have to press C, copy current buildings, and plop them somewhere else temporarily. Then I have to press X to delete the original buildings. Then - instead of being able to just do a CTRL+V to paste - I have to press C again and select the previously pasted buildings in order to re-place them where I wanted. If I made a mistake on 1 section, I cannot cut - I need to once again press C to copy, paste the building(s) somewhere else temporarily, press X and delete original building(s), then press C yet again to copy, then paste the building(s) back in where they should be, then press X again to delete the temporary copies.... you get the idea:-D -

quartzar MergedThe current system of having to press C and then clicking with left-mouse button is tedious and distracting.
Being able to immediately copy the item under the cursor on a single middle-mouse click would greatly improve quality of life. -

Groomie MergedSo basically, you want a buffer for your copied section/building? If I get it right..
I think it's a good idea, also, if possible, to expand it to having up to 3 recent copies or cuts, where you can drug from buffer and just paste it where you need.
Also part of this can be resolved by having blueprints in game :D -

quartzar MergedYep indeed, agree with everything you've just said. Think about the way Factorio handles the clipboard system, basically :-)

Thomas Preudhomme Admin MergedFrom the description it seems like you could use the move tool rather than copy and pasting, but I might be misunderstanding. We also added blueprints so that should cover that as well. If the suggestion is about having a history of clipboard could you please either create a new one for that or change this one? Thx !
(btw we added MMB to copy a building without its configuration, as well as copy and paste the configuration only of a building using Ctrl+RMB/Ctrl+LMB to cover the merged suggestion above) -

Thomas Preudhomme Admin MergedMerging this to a similar suggestion with stash history, feel free to create a new clearer suggestion if it isn't exactly what you intended to say !
